Fighting leukemia with your child
65My daughter
Lets fight ALL together
What do you do when you find out your child has leukemia? Where do you go from that moment on? How do you even begin to accept what is about to happen?
When my daughter was diagnosed with ALL (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia) I never could have imagined what we have seen these last few years. What started out as a viral infection quickly turned into her gasping for air January 2008 and being sent to the ER with my husband. As we sat in the PICU for 5 days we began seeing how close our child came to death. Now what my child has seen is not what NORMAL children would go through while being diagnosed or going through treatment of ALL.
I want to be here to answer parents questions because I wished someone had been able to answer mine
Things I've Learned
First day, in the PICU after 3 transfusions of packed red blood cells.
Do not give your child Ibuprofen afterwards for fever. It kills red blood cells.

So amazing to hear your daughter made it through her ALL!!! I have a 15 year old cousin who is now fighting ALL. He's been in the hospital since August. I have written 3 hubs on him - Morgon Emory Hubs, if you'd like to check them out. His mom and our whole family read them. I know they would be very greatful to hear from you :) Thoughts and prayers with you from now on!!!
